Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that Sri Lanka’s water resources have been contaminated due to the environment pollution that is taking place owing to the use of
agro chemicals and fertilizers in agriculture and actions of humans?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a survey has been conducted on rivers, tanks and other water resources that contain water unsuitable for consumption within Sri Lanka;
(ii) If so, the main water resources that contain contaminated water;
(iii) the measures taken to clean them making them suitable for consumption;
(iv) the measures taken to prevent water resources being contaminated in the future ?
(c) If not, why?
