      Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs,—

      (a) Will he inform this House —

      (i) of the number of Ceylon Tourist Board approved hotels available in Sri Lanka by the year 2015; and

      (ii) separately of the number of rooms available in each of those hotels?

      (b) Will he also inform this House —

      (i) separately the total number of tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka in each of the years 2014 and 2015; and

      (ii) the names of the top ten countries from which the most number of tourists arrived in Sri Lanka during the aforesaid two years;

      (c) Will he further inform this House —

      (i) of the measures that have been taken to upgrade the tourism industry in Sri Lanka;

      (ii) whether there is a well-planned programme to minimize the damages that would be caused to the environment and the culture of this country consequent to the expansion of the tourism industry;

      (iii) if so, of the nature of that programme; and

      (iv) if not, whether plans will be developed and implemented to protect the environment and culture?

      (d) If not, why?
