Hon. Namal Rajapaksa,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the current state of affairs of the constructions under the Fisheries Harbour Development Programme of Kalametiya ;
(ii) of the measures so far taken in relation to the trawl fishermen who will be deprived of engaging in fisheries industry owing to the implementation of the said project;
(iii) whether arrangements will be made to compensate the trawl fishermen;
(iv) if so, of the amount of compensation paid to one fisherman; and
(v) in addition to that, whether action will be taken to provide fishing vessels and gear needed to engage in fishing industry enabling these fishermen to conduct their livelihood activities?
(b) If not, why?
