Hon. Ishak Rahuman,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) around 4000 principals who were appointed on acting basis to Provincial Council Schools during the period from year 2008 to 2015 have gained knowledge and training in financial affairs and administration of schools;
(ii) after year 2005, the competitive examination for the recruitment of Principals was held in the year 2015 and it was held only for the recruitment of Principals to Grade III of the Principals’ Service; and
(iii) those who were above 50 years of age were not eligible to apply for the aforesaid examination while most of the teachers who were placed on the salary step that is higher than that of Grade III of the Principals’ Service did not apply for that examination?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the reason as to why the service of the acting principals of government schools has not been confirmed to date despite that those who have completed 03 years of service as acting principals should be appointed as principals through interviews in terms of the Minutes of the Principals’ Service;
(ii) whether action will be taken to confirm the service of the acting principals who were not even eligible to apply for the aforesaid competitive examination as they were above 50 years of age; and
(iii) whether relief will be provided to those who were subjected to political victimization during the previous regime?
(c) If not, why?
