Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) the sleeping compartments of certain long-distance, intercity express trains have fallen into disrepair;
(ii) certain trains do not have cafeteria facilities;
(iii) the cafeteria that are already available are not properly run;
(iv) substandard food and beverages are sold at very high prices in such cafeteria; and
(v) railway passengers are greatly inconvenienced due to these reasons.
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the steps that will be taken to improve the facilities in the aforesaid trains;
(ii) whether an estimate of the expenditure required for that purpose has been made; and
(iii) if so, of the value of the estimated expenditure?
(c) If not, why?
