      Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,—To ask the Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs,—

      (a)     Will he admit that—

      (i) St. Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade, Colombo; Church of Our Lady, Matara; Madhu Church; and Basilica, Ragama are the main places of worship of Christians and Catholics in Sri Lanka;

      (ii) common amenities required to devotees visiting these places of worship are at a minimal level; and

      (iii) as a result, devotees face great difficulties during annual festivals which are held in these places of worship?

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether steps have been taken by the government to develop these places of worship; and

      (ii) of the financial assistance and other forms of assistance provided by the government for the annual festivals?

      (c) If not, why?
