Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena,— To ask the Minister of Disaster Management,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) Mr. W.K. Tilakaratna of Kalugaswatta, Pallegama, Deniyaya is living with his family in an old building which had been used for a Handloom Centre by the Department of Textile Industries long ago with the danger of collapsing the same; and
(ii) this building has been arranged for his family by the Divisional Secretary of Kotapola on the recommendation of the Grama Niladari of Pallegama North due to the fact that the ancestral house of Mr. Tilakaratna has been identified by the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau as highly vulnerable for Earth slips?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he takes necessary steps to grant this land to Mr. Tilakaratna to build a new house by demolishing the old building; if not, any other suitable land to build a house; and
(ii) if so, when?
(c) If not, why?
