Hon. Imran Maharoof,— To ask the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) as to how long the post of District Director of Divineguma in the Trincomalee District has been vacant;
(ii) of the names, qualifications and other details of the persons who were holding that post in acting capacity in the period during which it has been vacant; and
(iii) of the reason as to why a permanent officer has not been appointed to that position to date?
(b) Is he aware that —
(i) in order to fill this vacancy, an officer was recommended for this post by the District Secretary, Trincomalee;
(ii) Divineguma Department did not approve that recommendation as the aforesaid officer belongs to Sri Lanka Planning Service; and
(iii) the aforesaid position has been vacant continuously due to this reason?
(c) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the reason for not filling the vacancy in the post of Divineguma District Director to date or for not giving the appointment to the officer that has been recommended by the District Secretary;
(ii) whether any interruption would be caused to the activities of the Divineguma programme by giving the appointment to the officer recommended by the District Secretary; and
(iii) whether action will be taken to appoint the officer recommended by the District Secretary of Trincomalee, to the post of Divineguma District Director ?
(d) If not, why?
