Hon. Prasanna Ranatunga,— To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Is he aware—
(i) that the University of Kelaniya commenced a four year special degree programme by the name of Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Sciences with effect from the year 2007 ;
(ii) that this degree course is named as two separate Bachelor of Science special courses as Speech and Auditory Therapy and Hearing Science after the first year of study; and
(iii) that the graduates who have followed Speech and Auditory Therapy are recruited to the Ministry of Health as language therapists?
(b) Will he inform this House whether arrangements will be made by the Ministry of Health to recruit the graduates who have completed the Degree in Hearing Science?
(c) If not, why?
