Hon. Chandima Gamage,— To ask the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether it has been stated that the “Carbon footprint” of the energy sector in Sri Lanka would be reduced by 5% by 2025 according to the Energy Development Plan of Sri Lanka for 2015 - 2025;
(ii) the measures taken by Sri Lanka to reach that target;
(iii) whether the aforementioned target is in conformity with the agreements entered into at the 2015 Paris Summit; and
(iv) if not, whether steps will be taken to amend the policies relating to the “Carbon footprint” of the energy sector in Sri Lanka to fall in line with the international standards?
(b) If not, why?
