Hon. S. C. Mutukumarana,—To ask the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the land areas allocated for burial grounds in Divisional Secretariat areas like Thalawa, Thambuttegama, Galnewa and Ipalogama were gradually reduced after the implementation of the Mahaweli Development Project; and
(ii) people made requests from your Ministry for a long period of time to build a crematorium as a solution for this?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the date on which the construction of the crematorium at Eppawala burial ground was started using the provisions allocated for the development of Kalawewa electorate for 2014, to fulfil the above mentioned request;
(ii) the amount of money allocated to construct the crematorium;
(iii) the reason why the construction work of the crematorium has stopped halfway; and
(iv) the date on which it will be completed and commissioned to the people’s ownership?
(c) If not, why?
