Hon. Shanthi Sriskandarasa,—To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Management,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) officers who joined the public service after 01.07.2007 should have passed the Sinhala Language at the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination;
(ii) they have to pass the oral test also conducted by the Department of Official Languages; and
(iii) this test is not conducted according to a specific timetable?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether action will be taken to conduct this test as per a specific timetable; and
(ii) if not, whether action will be taken to hand over this responsibility to the Northern Provincial Council or the district administration?
(c) If not, why?
