Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the number of ‘stents’ government hospitals need annually for treating patients with narrow arteries in the heart;
(ii) of the amount of money that is spent annually on that;
(iii) whether necessary steps have been taken to provide heart patients with these ‘stents’ without any shortage in future; and
(iv) if so, of the nature of the steps that have been taken?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether government expects to provide free of charge other medicines and devices required by heart patients; and
(ii) if so, of the names of such medicines and devices?
(c) If not, why?
