      Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—

      (a) Is he aware that —

      (i) the report of the COPE has revealed that there had been some irregularity with regard to purchase of treasury bonds of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by the company named Perpetual Treasuries;

      (ii) the Criminal Investigation Department carried out an investigation into the aforesaid incident in the year 2015;

      (iii) the report of the aforesaid investigation was referred to the            Attorney-General in or around the month of June, 2015 by an officer named Nagahamulla attached to the Criminal Investigation Department seeking advice of the Attorney-General;

      (iv) the aforesaid WPI file was submitted to a senior, female officer attached to the Criminal Division of the Attorney-General’s Department; and

      (v) that, after a few days, the aforesaid file was called for by the Attorney-General who then took action to stop the ongoing examination and assign it to a senior officer in the Civil Division. 

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) of the name of the female officer to whom the aforesaid file had been submitted;

      (ii) of the reason as to why the file was taken away from her;

      (iii) of the current progress of the process with regard to that file; and

      (iv) whether action will be taken under the Criminal Law with regard to the aforesaid investigation that had been carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department?

      (c) If not, why?
