Hon. Bandula Gunawardana,—To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the amount of foreign investments made by the companies listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange in the year 2016 since the income from dividends on investments in listed shares by foreign companies was exempted from the income tax as per proposal No.199 of the 2016 budget;
(ii) whether he will submit a report on the trends (as per standard indices) in the share market of Sri Lanka following the conclusion of the armed conflict in the year 2009;
(iii) the amounts of investments withdrawn by foreigners from the share market of Sri Lanka in the years 2015 and 2016;
(iv) the proposed changes and financial and tax incentives for the revival of the share market of Sri Lanka;
(v) whether there is a plan to introduce the Capital Gains Tax proposed from the 2016 budget to the share market in future?
(b) If not, why?
