Hon. Heshan Withanage,— To ask the Minister of Industry and Commerce,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) annual quantity of required sugar consumption of Sri Lanka;
(ii) quantity of sugar imported to Sri Lanka from year 2011 to 2014, separately each year;
(iii) the areas that have been identified in Sri Lanka suitable for sugar production;
(iv) the quantity of sugar produced by each factory from year 2011 to 2013, separately each year;
(v) whether the quantity of sugar in aforesaid (i) cannot be produced within the country;
(vi) whether any measure has been taken to produce the quantity of sugar required for consumption without importing it ?
(b) If not, why ?
