Hon. T. Ranjith De Soyza,—To ask the Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether officers recruited to the Special Police Reserve in 1996 were absorbed into the regular service in 2006 by the previous government;
(ii) if so, of the number of officers who were thus absorbed into the regular service;
(iii) whether the officers who were thus absorbed into the regular service are entitled to service privileges as appropriate from year 1996 onwards;
(iv) if not, whether he admits that disregarding the 10 years period from the date they were recruited to the date they were attached to the regular service when granting service privileges renders a grave injustice to them?
(b) If not, why?
