Hon. Thushara Indunil Amarasena,—To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) 29 officers serve as teacher assistants attached to the Department of Civil Security in the Welioya Education Zone since year 2007;
(ii) they have not hitherto been absorbed to the teachers service , in spite of the fact that they have engaged in duties amidst severe difficulties since the period of war;
(iii) a decision has been taken through the approval of cabinet to confirm the voluntary teachers who serve in the aforesaid province ;
(iv) on the basis of the said approval, steps have been taken by the Northern Provincial Council to confirm the teachers who served on Contract basis as well?
(b) Will he inform this House of the steps that will be taken to ensure job security of these teacher assistants?
(c) If not, why?
