Hon. I. Charles Nirmalanathan,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the 190 perches land (Deed No. 16) located at No. 11, Station Road, Mannar has been registered (Reg. No. B 1/53) as a land owned by the Methodist Council on 17.12.1872 by the Land Office of Mannar;
(ii) the Sri Lanka Army established an office in the respective land when it was unable to maintain it following the tense situation that prevailed in the country in 1985; and
(iii) even after more than 3 years have passed after allocating a separate land near the Mannar town for the purpose, the Army is yet to release the land belonging to the Methodist Council?
(b) Will he inform this House whether measures will be taken soon to release the relevant land which is urgently required by the Methodist Council?
(c) If not, why?
