Hon. Douglas Devananda,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) there are approximately 45 small scale agricultural tanks in 114 villages coming under 27 Grama Seva divisions of Oddisudan Divisional Secretariat Division of Mullaitivu district; and
(ii) the farmers have been severely oppressed as the paddy farmers are unable to engage in cultivations in Yala season and the other farmers cannot engage in cultivations in respective seasons as aforesaid tanks have not been renovated since many years?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the Ministry has a programme in order to renovate aforesaid tanks prioritizing them; and
(ii) if so, whether measures will be taken to renovate aforesaid tanks?
(c) If not, why?
