Hon. Ananda Aluthgamage,— To ask the Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife ,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he accepts that farmers have been subjected to great difficulty due to wild animal activities;
(ii) what portion of total production from farming is destroyed by wild animals;
(iii) what steps have been taken at present to protect farmers and conserve wild animals;
(iv) whether he is aware that birds’ eggs and their young are endangered due to the proliferation of toque macaques (rillow; binomial name: macaca sinica); and
(v) what solution will be given to this problem?
(b) If not, why?
