Hon.Vijitha Herath,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of persons to be paid compensation for the houses, dry lands and paddy lands acquired for the Uma Oya project in respect of each Divisional Secretariat Division;
(ii) the number of persons who have not been paid compensation from October 2014 to date though their properties have been acquired in respect of each Divisional Secretariat Division;
(iii) the reason for not paying compensation until now;
(iv) the basis on which compensation is deposited in the court;
(v) whether the advice of the Attorney General’s Department is sought for the deposit of compensation in the court;
(vi) if so, the time to be taken for that purpose;
(vii) the basis for referring to the Attorney General’s Department; and
(viii) whether steps will be taken for the speedy payment of compensation to those aggrieved due to non-receipt of compensation?
(b) If not, why?
