(vi) Report on the submission of observations and steps taken in terms of the Standing Order 119(4) of the Parliament with regard to the matters mentioned on the Ministry of Investment Promotion in the report of the Committee on Public Accounts which was presented to Parliament

Presentation of Reports from the Committees
(i) The Report of the Select Committee of Parliament to Investigate into and to make Suitable Recommendations relating to the Disasters Caused by New Diamond and X-Press Pearl Vessels in the Maritime Zone of Sri Lanka was presented by the Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana, the Chair of the Committee.
(ii) The Report of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Power & Energy was presented by the Hon. Gamini Lokuge, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
(iii) The Report of the Select Committee of Parliament to look into whether the Child Malnutrition Issue in Sri Lanka is Aggravating and to identify Short Term, Medium Term and Long Term Measures to be taken in that regard, as well as to oversee the Speedy Implementation of the Identified Measures was presented by the Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
(iv) Second Report of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament was presented by the Hon. Anuradha Jayaratne, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
(v) The Report of the Committee on Public Finance was presented by the Hon. (Dr.) Suren Raghavan, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
(vi) The Report of the Select Committee of Parliament to look into and identify the mechanisms to be implemented in order to immediately control and eradicate the rapidly spreading drug menace in the country and to submit observations and recommendations to Parliament in that regard was presented by the Hon. Jayantha Samaraweera, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.

Motions for Leave of Absence
Leave of Parliament was granted to the Hon. G. G. Ponnambalam, Member of Parliament to be absent from sittings of Parliament with effect from 04.09.2024, moved by the Hon. Chief Opposition Whip.

(i) The Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Jagath Kumara Sisu Nena Foundation (Incorporation)”
(ii) The Hon. Madhura Withanage, Attorney at Law was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Tredzo Development Foundation (Incorporation)”
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 7 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House.:-
(i) Two Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act
(ii) Two Regulations under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act
(iii) Two Orders under the Strategic Development Projects Act
(iv) Rules under the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Permanent solution for Human - Elephant conflict” was proposed by the Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1736 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 8th October 2024.
