Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration & Disaster Management,—
(a) Whether he is aware that—
(i) a lady officer of public service is entitled for 84 working days of leave with salary for each live child birth, in terms of the sub section 18:2:1 of the Establishment Code;
(ii) the half pay leave of 84 days are entitled in terms of the sub section 18:3:1 of the Establishment Code to look after the baby;
(iii) no pay leave of another 84 days can be granted in terms of the subsection 18:4:1 of the Establishment Code, if necessary; and
(iv) saturdays, sundays and public holidays that are falling within such period should not be counted at the time that the leave are counted as per aforesaid (i) ?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he accepts, however only 6 weeks of maternity leave has been allowed as per the appointment letter of the graduates who were recruited under the Graduate Training Programme of the Ministry of the National Policies and Economic Affairs; and
(ii) whether measures will be taken to grant the rightful maternity leave that aforesaid officers are entitled to as per the Establishment Code; and
(iii) If so, from what date?
(c) If not why?
