Hon. Chandima Weerakkody,— To ask the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) pipes have been laid and a water tank has been constructed under the community water project by the Thilaka Community Development Society in the year 2017 for providing pipe borne water facility to 180 families residing in Sirisumanagama of Thilakapura, Ambalangoda;
(ii) the Thilakapura Community Development Society has collected a sum of rupees 10,000/- from the particular residents pledging to provide water supply through this water project in February 2017; and
(iii) sanitary issues have arisen since the water in the wells of the area has been contaminated by sewage?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the reasons for not hitherto providing the aforesaid water supply; and
(ii) whether steps would be expeditiously taken to provide the pipe borne water supply to these residents without further delay?
(c) If not, why?
