Hon. Vasudeva Nanayakkara,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration & Disaster Management,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether compensation was paid for full of partial losses suffered by 24,625 persons belonging to 6133 families who were affected by the floods that occurred in Ratnapura District in May 2018;
(ii) if so whether he will submit details thereof;
(iii) the number of safety centres erected as per the statement made during the disaster situation that occurred in Ratnapura District in May 2016 that such centres would be erected for people to stay safe during the periods of disasters;
(iv) whether it has been pointed out at the discussion held by the representatives including the Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management with Ratnapura District Disaster Committee during the disaster situation prevailed in Ratnapura District in May 2018 that the number of canoes to be placed in nine disaster prone Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Ratnapura District was 102; and
(v) If so, whether action will be taken to supply those canoes and place them in the said locations?
(b) If not, why?
