Hon. Wimalaweera Dissanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the extent of maize cultivated lands in 2018/2019 Maha season in Sri Lanka;
(ii) of the extent of maize cultivated lands which were affected by Fall Armyworm epidemic;
(iii) of the approximate loss that the farmers suffered due to aforesaid crop damages;
(iv) whether relief will be provided to the farmers who rendered helpless due to the damages inflicted on maize cultivations by reason of Fall Armyworm epidemic; and
(v) if so, of aforesaid relief?
(b) If not, why?
