      Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Lands and Parliamentary                       Reforms,—

      (a) Is he aware that —

      (i) on 05th, 06th and 07th August 2017, a politician had got surveyed the land called Hamuge Watta, which is 23 acres in extent, located in No. 205, Gajaneggama Grama Niladhari Division in the Maho Divisional Secretary’s Division in Kurunegala District;

      (ii) after surveying and partitioning the land, those plots of lands were sold on the pretext of distributing them among public sector employees for constructing houses; and

      (iii) after the residents of the area had protested against that process, the relevant government officers confirmed that partitioning of the aforesaid land was illegal?

      (b) Will he inform this House –

      (i) whether the land referred to in (i) above is a land that belongs to the Ministry of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms;

      (ii) if the aforesaid land had been transferred to any other Ministry, of the name of such Ministry;

      (iii) whether legal action has been initiated against the persons who had taken steps to illegally partition a state land;

      (iv) if not, whether such legal action will be taken in due course;

      (v) whether there are plans to utilize this land for any purpose whatsoever; and

      (vi) if so, of the nature of such purpose?   

      (c) If not, why?
