      Hon. (Dr.) (Ms.) Harini Amarasuriya,—  To ask the Minister of Education,—

      (a) Will he inform this House—

      (i) of the number of complaints received by the National Child Protection Authority in 2020 regarding cases of child abuse;

      (ii) out of those complaints, of the number of those of which investigations have been completed;

      (iii) out of the number of cases of which investigations have been completed, of the number of those for which prosecution has been initiated;

      (iv) when a complaint has been received, of the time that is usually taken to carry out an investigation and to prosecute or dismiss the complaint; and

      (v) of the nature of the measures that have been implemented by the Authority to expedite investigations?

      (b) Will he also inform this House, in relation to the child victims of the cases related to such complaints— 

      (i) of the number of children living with their family members;

      (ii) of the number of those that have been taken away from their families;

      (iii) of the names of the places where those children are detained after they have been taken away from their families;

      (iv) of the number of those who are continuously engaged in their studies (formal and/or informal) as before as a percentage; and

      (v) of the number of children to whom psychosocial assistance has been provided by properly trained personnel?

      (c) Will he further inform this House of the nature of the measures that have been implemented in order to ensure the safety of child victims connected with these complaints?

      (d) If not, why?
