Hon Gayantha Karunathilaka,— To ask the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of Sri Lankan employees who returned to Sri Lanka due to Covid-19 pandemic and re-migrated for employment;
(ii) whether he admits that some of those employees were unable to re-migrate owing to losing jobs upon returning to Sri Lanka;
(iii) the steps that have been taken in relation to those employees who lost foreign employment: and
(iv) whether the programme, of granting a Special Projects loan to those employees who have returned to Sri Lanka after completing foreign employment to start a tax free business as articulated in the ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’, is under way at present?
(b) If not, why?
