Hon. Ravi Karunanayake,— To ask the Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) as to how the crate system imposed on the 15th January 2012 for vegetable transportation is working ;
(ii) the saving in vegetables being spoilt as a percentage and in rupee value after the introduction of crates; and
(iii) as to how the aforesaid saving is audited?
(b) Will he also state—
(i) whether the prices of vegetables has come down owing to the implementation of the crate system;
(ii) if so, the amounts reduced in prices along with corroborative evidence;
(iii) the responsible person bearing the cost of transporting the crates back to the farmers ; and
(iv) the cost of transporting the crates back to the farmers per year?
(c) If not, why?
