Hon. Jayantha Samaraweera,—To ask the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of archeological monuments that have been destroyed so far;
(ii) the nature of the damage that has been caused on the said monuments;
(iii) whether legal measures have been taken against the individuals those who caused the said damages; and
(iv) the current progress of the said legal measures?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the tendency of destroying archeological monuments in Sri Lanka at present;
(ii) the measures that have been taken to prevent the occurrence of situations as such;
(iii) whether he admits that the archeological monuments gazetted are not conserved properly; and
(iv) if so, the reasons for the said matter?
(c) Will he further inform this House—
(i) of the number of archeological monuments proposed to be gazetted in due course;
(ii) separately, the names of each archeological monument, province, District and the Divisional Secretariat Division in which each of them is situated; and
(iii) the date on which the above mentioned archeological monuments be gazetted?
(d) If not, why?
