Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Attorney at Law,—To ask the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) quantity of salt required for annual consumption in Sri Lanka;
(ii) manner in which the said quantity of salt is procured;
(iii) names of the government institutions and private institutions that produce salt, separately;
(iv) areas where salt is produced the most;
(v) warehouse locations where the salt harvest is stored; and
(vi) capacity of the warehouses and of the duration for which the said capacity will be sufficient, separately?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether salt has been imported to Sri Lanka from 2024.01.01 to date;
(ii) if so, of the number of occasions on which salt was imported and the quantity of salt imported on each occasion, separately; and
(iii) of the reasons for importing salt?
(c) If not, why?
