Hon. Ruwanthilaka Jayakody,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)
(a) Is she aware that—
(i) the ‘Reggie Ranatunga Educational Scholarship Fund’ was established with the aim of promoting the educational, health and social welfare of poor children under Incorporation Act, No. 28 of 2000;
(ii) a land of about 100 perches in extent belonging to the Pansilgoda Grama Niladhari Division, Minuwangoda, Gampaha District was donated to the Fund on 07.04.2003;
(iii) a building was constructed on this land in 2005 and a vocational training institute was started but the institute concerned was closed down in 2021; and
(iv) in 2023, the building was demolished, the land was fenced, a gate was constructed and coconut trees were planted on the said land, thereby acting illegally and fraudulently to acquire the said land for private possession?
(b) Will she inform this House of the steps that can be taken to transfer the land to an appropriate government institution for use for a public purpose?
(c) If not, why?
