Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the date on which the factory that has been started in Galle for processing canned fish was launched;
(ii) of the institution which bears the ownership of the factory;
(iii) of the expected annual production of the factory;
(iv) of the type or types of fish that is used for canning;
(v) of the daily fish requirement of the factory; and
(vi) of the local daily production of the aforementioned type or types of fish used for canning by the factory?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether fish that is required for the aforesaid canned fish factory are being imported;
(ii) if not, whether it has been planned to do so;
(iii) the names of the countries from which the aforementioned fish are imported or it is expected to do so; and
(iv) the quantity of fish that is imported or expected to import monthly ?
(c) If not, why?
