Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Disaster Management,—
(a) Is he aware that the people who are residing in areas by river Nilwala in the Matara, Akuressa, and Kamburupitiya electorates of the Matara District are faced with a grave threat to their lives caused by the crocodiles in the river?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the number of people in the aforesaid areas that were killed by the crocodiles from the year 2010 todate;
(ii) separately, of the names and addresses of the people who were killed and the amount of the compensation paid on behalf of them;
(iii) of the measures that have been taken to curb the crocodile menace prevailing in the areas by the river Nilawala; and
(iv) of the amount of the provisions that have been allocated for the aforesaid purpose?
(c) If not, why?
