Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) the number of national schools in the Matara District at present;
(ii) the total number of teachers working in the aforesaid schools; and
(iii) the schoolwise breakdown of the number of teachers that have completed a period of service of 5-10, 11-15, 16-20 years and more than 21 years in their respective schools, out of the aforesaid number of teachers, separately?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether it is accepted that there are many teachers who have been working in each national school in the Matara District for a long period of time;
(ii) the reasons for the aforesaid teachers to remain in the same school;
(iii) whether a systematic programme will be prepared to give transfers to the aforesaid teachers; and
(iv) if so, the date on which it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
