      Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe,— To ask the Minister of Highways, Ports and            Shipping,—

      (a) Will he state—

      (i) the amount of money spent on the maintenance activities of the Hambantota port from the date of its commencement up to date;

      (ii) whether he acknowledges the generation of an income of Rs 420 million through the  Hambantota port; and

      (iii) the income generated from importing and re-exporting vehicles through that port?

      (b) Will he admit the facts that—

      (i) unloading and shipping of all exported or re-exported vehicles were handled by the Colombo port prior to the commencement of operations of the Hambantota port; and

      (ii) vehicle importers have to pay an additional cost owing to the transfer of those activities from Colombo port to Hambantota port without any justifiable reason?

      (c) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether nearly 400 ships ply in the international waters close to the Hambantota port in a day; and

      (ii) out of those ships the number of ships that arrive at the Hambantota port for fuelling ?

      (d) If not, why?
