      Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam,— To ask the Minister of Education,—

      (a) Will he state—

      (i) the number of teachers who have not been awarded permanent appointments even though they have fulfilled the necessary qualifications by now;

      (ii) the reasons for not awarding permanent appointments to them up to now;

      (iii) whether he admits the fact that these teachers have been deprived of the privileges which they are entitled to as permanent appointments have not been awarded to them; and

      (iv) the time when letters of permanent appointment will be awarded to them?

      (b) If not, why?
