Hon. (Mrs.) Anoma Gamage,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) whether the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs has the statistics about the buddhist monks in Sri Lanka;
(ii) accordingly, the number of Buddhist monks living in Sri Lanka at present;
(iii) the number of Buddhist monks who were ordained in the year 2013; and
(iv) the number of monks who have disrobed during the aforesaid year?
(b) Will he inform this House the steps that have been taken to provide a solution and to identify the reasons as to why the Buddhist monks who are rendering a yeoman service to protect the Buddha Sasana in Sri Lanka, are leaving it?
(c) Will he also inform this House—
(i) according to the statistics in the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs, the number of Buddhist Bikkunis in Sri Lanka to date; and
(ii) the number of Bikkunis who were ordained during the year 2013?
(d) If not, why?
