      Hon. Chandima Gamage,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—

      (a) Will he inform this House of —

      (i) the original farmer families that were settled in the Mahaweli Systems have developed into their third generations at present;

      (ii) they eke out a living with immense hardships with the little income they earn by cultivating the land with an extent of 2 1/2 acres that belong to their father or brothers;

      (iii) the families of all three generations have built small houses in the 1/2 acre land given to the original settlers for living and live under trying conditions; and

      (iv) If not, why?
