      Hon. Harin Fernando,— To ask the Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) a 100 perch block of land located at No. 53/75, Vauxhall Street, Colombo-02, which belonged to Janatha Estate Development Board, has been sold at Rs. 300 million on approval obtained through a cabinet memorandum ;

      (ii) the cabinet approval was secured to sell this land in order to pay the arrears of the provident fund of the officers and employees of the JEDB and the monies and gratuity due to the Employees         Provident Fund?

      (b) Will he state—

      (i) the amount of money required to settle the aforesaid provident fund dues ;

      (ii) the amount of money paid from the above mentioned Rs 300 million as provident fund dues ; and

      (iii) the amount of money remains to be paid as provident fund dues?

      (c) Will he state—

      (i) whether the Janatha Estate Development Board incurred losses last year ;

      (ii) the reason for incurring such losses ;

      (iii) if so, the loss in the aforesaid year and the profit or loss up to May this year ; and

      (iv) whether the on payment of money to the Provident Fund was due to the losses incurred by the institution?

      (d) If not, why?
