      Hon. Lucky Jayawardana,— To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—

      (a) Will he admit that approval of the Cosmetics, Devices and Drugs Regulatory Authority has to be obtained when cosmetics are imported to Sri Lanka, as per the Cosmetics, Devices and Drugs Act No.27 of 1980?

      (b) Is he aware that—

      (i) despite the aforesaid requirement, through the removal of the subject of cosmetics through National Drugs Regulatory Authority Act of 2015, opportunity has been provided to import cosmetics harmful to the body; and

      (ii) those who use the said harmful cosmetics have suffered various allergies and  fallen sick and died?

      (c) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether a proper methodology for the regulation of the importation of cosmetics would be formulated speedily to minimize such incidents; and

      (ii) if so, the date on which it will be done?

      (d) If not, why?
