      Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To  ask  the  Minister  of  Transport  and   Civil  Aviation,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) private vans and three-wheelers are widely used for transporting school children in all parts of the island at present; and

      (ii) fees are charged for school vans even during school vacations?

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) of the total number of vehicles that have been deployed in the country for transporting school children at present; and

      (ii) whether there is any procedure for regulating the standards of those vehicles, the seating capacity of those vehicles and the fees charged from school children for such vehicles?

      (c) If not, why?
