Hon. (Mrs.) Shanthi Sriskandarasa,—To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Management,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) Circular Nos. 59/89 and 21/88 have been issued for the payment of compensation to officers who died, disabled due to the war situation;
(ii) subsequently, measures were taken to pay the salary of 120 months based on the last drawn salary as compensation as per Circular No. 22/93 (iii) dated 04.05.2005;
(iii) adequate relief was not received by many families as a result of the provisions of this circular not being made applicable in respect of those who received relief under Circular Nos. 21/88 and 59/89 (REPPIA); and
(iv) conditions have been imposed as of now to submit clearance reports from the security divisions when seeking relief?
(b) Will he inform this House whether measures will be taken to—
(i) issue a new circular on the above matter connected to Circulars 21/88, 59/89, 22/93 and 22/93(iii);
(ii) pay the salary of the deceased officer to his family till such time the officer would have reached 55 years, together with compensation; and
(iii) to remove the requirement to obtain security clearance reports from security divisions?
(c) If not, why?
