      Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation,—

      (a) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether it is admitted that the persons who lose their property are severely inconvenienced  owing to the preparation of a new plan  having altered the initial plan of proposed Kurunegala-Habarana Railway line subsequent to a period of ten years after  the preparation of the initial plan;

      (ii) whether it is admitted that  people protest against the alteration of this plan;

      (iii) separately of the amount of money that has been proposed for construction  and compensation;

      (iv) of the institutions by which these funds are provided and the basis for such provisions;

      (v) of the purpose of the already available railway track from Kurunegala to Habarana via Mahawa once this railway line is constructed;

      (vi) of the benefits of the proposed railway line;

      (vii) whether it is possible to be satisfied about the  comparative benefits of the  massive investment  made on the proposed railway line which is going to be constructed  amidst the availability of  an alternative railway line to Habarana and  further, in a situation  where an expressway is also being constructed via Kurunegala?

      (b) If not, why?
