      Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) the work of a jogging track being constructed around the reservoir located south to Bandaranaike Mawatha, Katubedda was suspended midway;

      (ii) the work of the jogging track was resumed and having completed most of the work, the work has come to a standstill as the contractor removed all machineries on 12.09.2016;

      (iii) as a result of garbage being dumped to the said reservoir  and surrounding area, a massive environmental pollution has taken place occasioning an increase in the mosquito density;

      (iv) the renovated reservoir and the canal are overgrown with weeds owing to the suspension of the construction of the jogging track?

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) whether action be  taken to construct the jogging track and depollute the heavily polluted reservoir;

      (ii) if so, the date on which the work thereof will be resumed;

      (iii) whether action will be taken to recover the expenditure incurred on the work done hitherto?

      (c) If not, why?
