      Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage,— To ask the Minister of Plantation Industries,—

      (a) Will he admit that—

      (i) tea estates that belonged to the government have been given to private companies on long term lease basis for a low price;

      (ii) the amount charged by the government when leasing out these estates;

      (iii) the conditions imposed on them;

      (iv) these companies have evaded making lease payments, violated conditions and are destroying the estates by neglecting their maintenance;

      (v) whether the Ministry will make arrangements to develop these estates and make the contribution to the national economy of the country as the companies are violating the conditions of the agreements signed with the government?

      (b) If not, why?
